*Work on phonics by reading simple sentences from Visions, beginning reading 
books, phonics' cards, and transparencies. 
*Discuss pictures of things, events, and stories--use as many English words 
as possible. 
*Read for fluency by consistently saying and learning the words in the "Word 
List" packet. Work on fluency: Speed, Accuracy, and Expression (in story-
reading) 
*Use an English dictionary to derive meaning of words. 
*Fill out basic forms and retrieve information. 
*Recognize and use syllabication and phonemic rules. 
*Communicate basic needs in social and academic settings. 
*Learn how to ask and answer questions in English. 
*Answer questions using "who", "what", "where", "when", "why", and "how". 
*Differentiate between first and third person point of view.
