About The Counselors

Welcome to Vandenberg Middle School. The counselors at Vandenberg Middle 
School are dedicated in building success for the students, staff and parent 
community. The counseling department works with students on an individual 
basis, as well as, in group settings. All three counselors are members of 
the national organization of ASCA (American School Counselor Association). 
The counseling department has built its program in accordance with the 
National Standards set forth by ASCA. The counselors work with ALL students 
in promoting career, personal and social, and academic growth. 
The "Counselor Chats" are well-liked by the students and staff which allows 
the counselors to see ALL students. 8th graders receive a curriculum in 
career education which is articulated with Cabrillo High School. The  
7th graders receive a curriculum which is articulated with the school wide 
BEST (Building Effective Schools Together) program. If the Counseling

Mission Of The Department

In support of district and school mission statements, Lompoc Unified School 
District school counselors are committed to providing comprehensive and 
developmentally appropriate counseing programs addressing the academic, 
personal/social and career growth of all students. Counselors will work as 
student advocates in partneship with families, community, administration, 
teachers and other school staff. Programs developed will foster students' 
cultural awareness, appreciation of diffrences, personal responsibility, 
personal and social informed decision-making, and the highest level of 
intellectual potential through access to a rigorous academic program.
