Anne Heaney
Caring School Community

Welcome to Vintage Parkway 2014-2015 School Year! We welcome our new principal Anne Heaney with much excitement as we wish the very best to our previous principal Christina Edwards who will open Almond Grove Elementary and be principal there. Our theme this year is "Now We're Cooking-with Common Core!" Our emphasis will be on deepening our understanding and extending our use of the new Common Core Standards in our lessons. These standards will support students becoming college and career ready. As a result, we are shifting our teaching emphasis to include increased non-fiction reading, use of academic language, increased application of higher level thinking skills, student discussions where claims are supported with text based evidence, and informational writing. We are all working together and focusing on helping each of our students achieve their best throughout this year.

Please make sure all Emergency Cards are complete with all phone numbers where you or your emergency contacts can be reached.

We really need everyone's help to ensure that students are SAFE in our parking lots. When dropping off or picking up your child. Please do not park along the red zones. Students who are dropped off 8:00-8:20 must go out to the blacktop area. We also need help on Wednesdays. Please come at the correct dismissal time. 4th & 5th graders do not get dismissed until 12:35 and prior to that we need to load our primary students safely. If upper grade parents come to early, we will have to ask you to loop around the lot so we get our younger students safely into their cars. We cannot allow students to cut across the grass or parking areas. We need your cooperation for the safety of your children. Please do not speed through the parking lot. If you park, you must walk over and get your child safely from the pick up area. Thank you for those who follow the rules everyday and do your part to keep our children safe. We need all to put safety first!

Thank you to our fabulous PTA and volunteers for the spookerificly spooktacular Harvest Carnival. It was great fun for all.
Bucket Fillers and Anti-Bullying
Talk to your child about being a "Bucket Filler" and helping to create a caring school community. "Bucket Filler" not 'Bucket Dippers" encourages students to be respectful, be polite, share, be kind, listen and help be an overall good citizen.

Student Handbooks:
Please take time to read through the handbook of school rules and dress code. We all want to make being at school as positive an experience as possible.
