Caring School Community
Students in grades 2 through 5 just finished taking the state mandated STAR test which included the California Standards Tests. Great job being rested, ready, and have had a positive attitude in taking the tests. Thank you for encouraging your child to do his/her personal best.
Vintage Parkway's students, families and friends celebrated their first American Cancer Society's Relay Recess. Personally decorated Luminaria Bags were set up in honor or remembrance of someone special to their family. Our caring students, friends and families raised over $4000 for the American Cancer Society. We want to congratulate Mrs. Gardiner who was voted Vintage Parkway's Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Gardiner teaches one of our Kinder classes. She is a very caring teacher. We are so proud to have her as our teacher of the year.
We are now in our final trimester of the 2011-12 school year. Spring is filled with the excitment of new projects, testing, field trips, special events, and many opportunities for learning. There are many 3rd grade projects of national monuments and landmarks to see in the library. Great job 3rd graders. Open House is May 17. Classes will be open to see all the amazing projectss you child has done. Visit our PTA sponsored BookFair and Art Fair in the library. Have your student show you their personal art.
Thank you PTA for the wonderful Staff Appreciation PTA sponsored luncheon. We all enjoyed and appreciated all you did. If you would like to recognize a teacher or other staff member who has made a difference in your child’s life, please drop that person a note this month and let him/her know how you feel. May and June will be the busiest months ever! Fourth and Fifth Grade does their Spring Concert as well as Fifth Grade Parent orientation, Fifth Grade Field Day at Delta Vista, and our third trimester Awards Assembly. Our theme this year has been, "Find the MAGIC in you!" We have been focusing on helping our students achieve the standards for behavior through MAGIC. M=Model Acceptable Behavior, A=Accept Responsibility, G=Give Respect, I=Improve Through Goals, and C=Cooperate. As we journey through our school year, you may hear your child say, "I found the MAGIC" in me today. We want students to follow the standards for behavior found in our, "Find the MAGIC in you!" school theme. We have posters all over our school with this theme to remind students of this theme which helps us all focus on teamwork, cooperation, respect, and responsibility. We want students to follow these standards for behavior. A great book to read with your child is, "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids" by Sean Covey. This is a wonderful picture book with stories which help students understand the habits for highly effective students! Your involvement makes a huge difference in your child’s life and our school programs. If you haven’t signed up to be a PTA Member, there is still time. Get forms in the office and support our PTA who supports our school and your child’s programs at Vintage. Wishing you wonderful spring.

IMPORTANT OFFICE REMINDERS: Please make sure all Emergency Cards are complete with all phone numbers where you or your emergency contacts can be reached.
PARENT PICK UP: We really need everyone's help to ensure that students are SAFE in our parking lots. When dropping off or picking up your child, please make sure you pull into the loading zone. Do not park along the red zone. We cannot allow students to cut across the grass or parking areas. We need your cooperation for the safety of your children. Please do not speed through the parking lot. If you park, you must walk over and get your child safely from the pick up area. Thank you for those who follow the rules everyday and do your part to keep our children safe. We need all to put safety first!
Thank you to our fabulous PTA for all the planning you have already started with for a fantastic school year.
Student Handbooks: Please take time to read through the handbook of school rules and dress code. We all want to make being at school as positive an experience as possible.
