Dear Students and Families,

One of the obvious concerns is that students expect to learn all material
during the short few hours
while at school. I have shared with them "If you know you aren't going to do
any needed work when you
go home, then make arrangements to stay after school and not go home." We
need parents to hold their children accountable for learning and homework as
this is a learning time in preparation for an earning
future. The sooner all of us realize that we are lifelong learners the better
for us and our society.

3rd Quarter 2nd semester We are working on writng Response to literature
Essays this quarter. Students are learning vocqbulary, and how to read a
story, interpret it, and write an essay in response to it. The essay the are working on is an essay in
response to "The Amigo Brothers". We read and discussed the story in class and all students were
given the requirements and ideas for writing a page to a page and one half essay.

Homework for 1,2,3 and 6th period is taken from a student newspaper. Each
student has been given user name and password to login at
www.teentribune.com. They read at least three stories and answer nine or more
questions about the articles to get 9 points during the week. They main earn
beyond nine points.

Students elected class presidents for each period. They are:

 Elizabeth P. 1st period
Naomi M. 2nd period (@nd time)
 Amada Morales 3rd period
 Kenneth Berry 5th period (Art)
Anahid V. Newspaper Editor
Jessica C. Yearbook Editor

Each president then selected 7 officers to help run the classroom.
