Suite 16 (Room 16) News!
April 24, 2017

This week is another busy STEAM week!  All week students will be going to the science lab for more demonstrations and experiments.   All Science Fair projects are due at school on Wednesday.  On Thursday students will be presenting their Science Fair projects to the judges, so we'll be practicing our presentation skills on Monday and Tuesday.

We also have state testing coming up soon.  Our class schedule is listed below, BUT please remember that these are the times we are in the computer lab testing.  We may be testing in the classroom at any other time, so PLEASE DO NOT SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS DURING THE MONTH OF MAY and please no early outs - we have an incredible amount of testing in fifth grade (more than in ANY other grade, through high school!)

Our testing schedule looks like this:

Friday, April 28  8:45 - 11:45  English Language Arts Computer Adapted Testing

Monday, May 1  12:45 - 2:15   English Language Arts Computer Adapted Testing

Thursday, May 4  8:45 - 11:45  Math Computer Adapted Testing

Friday, May 5   12:45 - 2:15    Math Computer Adapted Testing

During Math we'll finish our LAST UNIT - Unit 12, Geometry.  We will continue to review all the fifth grade concepts for the rest of the year so that students will be ready for Middle School Math, and beyond.

This week in Science we will be studying atoms, their structure, to help us understand electricity.  Later on we'll be building simple circuits, parallel circuits,  series circuits and electromagnets to follow the paths of electrons and we'll learn about magnetism as well.

Throughout the year, please order books for your child and our classroom through Scholastic Reading Club - You can order on-line so we don't have to process orders from home.  THANK YOU in advance to all who place Scholastic Reading Club Orders on-line!  For every book or product that you purchase we get a book for our classroom!  If you would like to place an order, please use our classroom code HH3V6 so that we can enjoy more books in our classroom library. The on-line website is:  scholastic.com/readingclub
