About the Instructor

I have had the pleasure of teaching our wonderful West High students for many
years. Every day offers discovery and challenges that keep me inspired. I
also enjoy involvement in on-site and district-wide policy development
and training, which keeps me abreast of the educational tide.

Besides a BA in Literature, I have a Master of Arts degree in English
Literature: Composition and Rhetoric. My credential qualifies me to teach
English at all grade levels, including adult education. I love the challenge
and stimulation of teaching a wide range of grade levels, to include the
classes I teach at El Camino.

I also have the great joy of being adviser to the Freshman Focus Club, which
provides information and support to the freshman class.

Mission for the Class

In compliance with California State Standards, students will read novels,
non-fiction, short stories, and poetry. They will study and analyze literary
devices, conventions, and themes of literature. Analytical writing,
vocabulary development, and editing skills will be a major focus.
