2nd graders are hard at work learning the songs and, for some, learning their lines for our life cycles musical to be performed for you, the parents, on the morning of Thursday May 31st at 9:00 am. WE NEED LAB COATS! IF YOU HAVE A LAB COAT OR 2 THAT WE COULD BORROW, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! We will be sending home a flyer to remind you of this performance, and also to invite you to a short reception after the performance! We hope to be able to gather some yummy snacks and drinks and make it a fun celebration of all of the students' hard work on the musical! It will also be a thank you to you for helping us make it happen. Look for this flyer in your child's blue folder and respond if you can provide any of the needed items.
Just when we thought testing was over, NWEA starts this coming Monday (5/14). I am very anxious about this testing period, as I know students have testing fatigue and yet I want to see the progress I know they've made this year on this test! Please support your students by having a talk with them on Monday morning to remind them that they need to keep their focus on both Monday and Tuesday (we are also testing Tuesday afternoon) and to do their very best to show their teacher and you the results of all of their hard work in 2nd grade.
Field Day is coming up soon! Thank you to the parents who have volunteered for the day, and to those who are providing us what we need for our station. If you would like to volunteer too, contact myself or Laila Nelson, our email room parent. I can always use more hands to help not only with our station, but also with walking around with our kids and assisting with kids who may get hurt, need a break, relieving the teacher for a bathroom break;-), etc.
In Math, we will work on our very last chapter of the year this week. We will take our last unit test next Monday the 21st (review pages to go home on Friday). This chapter is on adding and subtracting money. After we finish with our math curriculum, we will take the math end of the year test. This will help me determine where kids are at the end of this year, and where they need to begin for next year (if they are looping with me)!
May is Bike Month is in full swing! Please make sure you're helping your child log his/her trips on the sheet we provided a few weeks ago, and send it in each Monday morning so your child is eligible for a prize!
