Dear Students,

Welcome! I hope you had a great summer and are ready for some exciting
learning experiences. I am looking forward to working with you this coming
school year.

Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as an Engineer in the Space
Industry for 7 years and spent a couple more years in the Telecommunications
Industry. Also for the past 8 years, I have been sharing my excitement for
space exploration with the public as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA.

Knowing how important it is, I try to incorporate real-life applications
into the materials to be covered in class and make this course as relevant
to you as possible. So buckle your seat belts, and get ready for some eye-
opening experiences.

Over the coming school year, we have a great deal to cover. In order to
make this class successful, I must ask for your cooperation. In addition, I
will ask for your input frequently and if you have any ideas, please feel
free to share them at any time.

Please raise any questions or comments at an appropriate time during
class or check my schedule on the board or this website to reach me during
the day. Furthermore, you can always reach me via e-mail.

Please note that I cannot guarantee immediate response to your e-mail.
Therefore, questions or comments that require immediate attention should be
addressed before you leave school. “You didn’t answer my question on e-
mail” is not a valid excuse for not doing your work!

Please read the rest of the newsletter carefully and share it with your
parents. You will find information regarding rules, expectations, and other
tidbits that will be helpful to you throughout the year.

I wish you much success this year and I know that you will accomplish
your goals, as well as mine, if you approach this class with enthusiasm and
dedication.

                                        Sincerely,
		                        Mrs. Martin
