Dear Parents and Students,

I cannot believe that the end of the year is already here! I have
truly enjoyed this class. They are such a happy, cheerful group. The
kindness they showed each other was truly heartwarming. I am very proud of
how hard they have worked this year, and how much they have grown
academically. I will miss them very much! I hope that they will remember to
come back and visit next year (and future years too!)
I am sending a packet home to help keep everyone razor sharp for
fifth grade! I am sending home many math pros, and I hope that everyone
practices at least once a week to help keep the multiplication facts
memorized. In addition, I am sending home a sheet that has the codes to
access the text books online. You can preview what is coming up for fifth
grade or review fourth grade material. A book list that contains all of the
books for next year’s Battle of the Books is included in the packet. Lastly,
please do not forget about High Stakes math (Highstakesmath.com).
The students will also be expected to learn the states and capitals
next year. I have found an app for the iPhone/iPad which is called United
States Puzzle Map. The creator is Jenny Sun. It is a fun way to learn the
states and capitals if you have access. My own children enjoy playing the
game.
I know that the last thing any of my students want to think about
right now is more work, and I truly understand. I just want to give them
every advantage to help them have an awesome fifth grade experience! Once
they have had time to relax, perhaps they will be open to reviewing, reading,
and staying prepared for fifth grade!
I hope that everyone has a safe and wonderful summer. I look forward
to seeing everyone again next August!

								Sincerely,
								Mrs. Massey
