Homework

HOMEWORK POLICY:

Late work will be accepted but with the following grade deductions:

1. Late but turned in the same day will recieve a deduction of 10% off of 
the grade earned.
2. Late work turned in the following day will be marked down 20%.
3. Work turned in 2 days late will recieve a maximum grade of 50%. 
4. All work turned in after that will be a "0" and must be completed.
5. Late projects will be 20% off if turned in late on that day. They will be 
another 10% off each day after.

TEST POLICY:

1. Retakes will not be given on tests, quizzes, or projects. Redo's will be 
allowed on homework at my descretion.
2. If a student is absent they will have a make-up day for every day absent 
to prepare for the test.

ABSENT HOMEWORK:

1. Each student will have a homework partner. They are responsible to gather
   any homework given that day for their partner to complete.
2. Those assignments will be written down and put on the back counter for
   the absent student to pick up the following day.
3. A request can be made to have homework sent to the office to be picked 
   between 12:00pm and 4:00pm. Arrangements can be made to have homework 
   picked up after 4:00pm and before 6:00pm in the SAC building. 

WHAT ARE WE WORKING ON?

7TH GRADE WORLD HISTORY:

We will be studying the African Culture. As a class, we will discover how the 
the bantu speaking people spread throughout Africa bringing their language 
and culture with them. The students will examine the importance of gold and 
salt to the African economy.

Major Assignments:
Assignment 1- African Village Outline
Assignment 2- Compare and contrast the importance of Gold vs Salt
Assignment 3- African Mask


8TH GRADE HISTORY:

We will be studying the development and unification of the English 13 
colonies. We will be examining various events that led to the Revolutionary 
War.  

Major Assignments:

Assignment 1- Outline events leading to D of I.
Assignment 2- Summary of the "Declaration of Independence" 
Assignment 3- Would you Fight- Essay


7TH GRADE MATH:

We will be working on basic Algebra skills. 

Major Assignments:

We are currently in Chapter 4-

Assignments- 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 


RELIGION:

We will be going through the New Testement. 

We will also be in 8th grade "Prayer Teams" this year. Every Monday the 
students will get in their teams and make a prayer list for the week and 
pray for those requests. As a class we will keep a prayer list to pray for 
the week. We will be discussing the power of prayer as the year continues.

Memory:

Please see Memory assignment sheet. Memory will be given every Tuesday and 
Friday.


LANGUAGE:

We are currently working through Chapter 4, adjectives and adverbs, and 
writing with adjectives and adverbs.
Major Assignments:
Sections 4-1 to 4-4 

Writing Assignment- We have started our third writing assignment-"Christmas"- 
A Descriptive Essay.
Outline due Deember 11
Rough Draft due December 18
