Growing Up and Education:
I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley where I attended First Lutheran School
in El Monte for Kindergarten through 6th grade. My parents moved so I
changed schools to attend Foothills Jr. High School for 7th through 9th
grade and then moved to Arcadia High School for 10th through 12th grade.
After graduating high school I attended Christ College Irvine (which is now
Concordia University) from 1988-1993. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in
1992 and then continued to complete my teaching credential. During that
year, I student taught in 5th grade at Zion Lutheran School. This is when I
decided that I wanted to be a Lutheran School teacher. That spring Zion
called me to teach 4th grade. And I spent the next 7 years teaching
students to be responsible, dressing up as a penguin for our theme days,
decorating my classroom with Smiley Faces, giving out Smiley Faces, and
learning about California History.
I completed my Master's Degree in Administration at Pepperdine University in
an intense 11 months. It was an incredible experience! After graduating I
taught 4th grade for one more year and then decided I was ready for a
change, but I was not ready to leave the classroom so God provided me with a
new challenge. I moved up to teach 7th & 8th grade. I got the challenge I
was looking and now can see how God was preparing me to be an administrator.
I have had direct teaching experiences with every grade Kindergarten through
8th grade with the exception of 3rd grade.
The fall of 2002, I served Zion as the Interim Principal and was officially
called as Principal for the 2003-04 school year. Where I continue to work
with children, teachers, and families.
My Family:
I have a wonderful husband, Sean Kangas, and two great kids, Matthew and
Mackenzie. We live in Fullerton where we enjoy spending time together.
I enjoy going to the beach, being outdoors, and scrap booking.
The goals I have for our Pre-Algebra class is to have the students learn the
math concepts, enjoy Math, and feel that they have had a successful
experience.
Working together we can make this a successful experience!
