I am excited to welcome your child to fourth grade! I look forward to
getting to know each student and working as your partner in their
educational experience this year. I know that we can experience a
meaningful year through the supportive partnership of student, parent, and
teacher. My expectations for conduct and standards for academic growth are
high. With your participation in and out of the classroom, we will have a
productive, creative, and fun year together. Be your child’s biggest fan
and support him/her every day!
Fourth grade is a transitional year for your child as s/he moves into their
middle years of childhood. Having mastered basic reading and arithmetic
skills, we will begin using those skills to explore the next level of
academia. While this change can be challenging, I know each student can
experience successful growth. I will be working in collaboration with the
4th grade teaching team to instruct using the state standards and district
curriculum in engaging and productive lessons.
This year will be my eleventh year working for EGUSD, and my sixth
year at Joseph Sims. I live nearby in the Stonelake neighborhood with my
husband and our three children, aged 17, 15, and 12. I love to travel,
read, and cook. Additionally, I enjoy my parent role working backstage for
River City Children’s Theatre and enjoying the high school scene from a non-
student perspective! The two “big” events in my life this year will be
sending my eldest daughter off to college in August, and celebrating my 20th
wedding anniversary in January.
