Reading:
We read, “The Pretty Pennies Picket” this week. The was the first story of
Unit Three, Taking a Stand. This unit tells of people from various times and
places who did not accept the status quo and decided to stand up against
unfair practices. The unit three assessment test was given to your child
this week, after we reviewed it in class.

Math:
We took the Chapter Eight test today. Remember, students are able to re-take
a test if they scored a sixty nine percent or lower. We'll start Chapter
Nine, Understanding and Using Percent when we track back on.

Spelling/Writing:
We take a spelling pretest every Monday. Students learn and take notes on
the spelling pattern and are given worksheets to increase their understanding
of it.

Persuasive writing packets were distributed yesterday. We’ll focus on this
topic when we return from our break.

Social Studies/Science:
We’re on Chapter Six, Plate Tectonics. This is a fascinating and interesting
chapter the students enjoy learning about. We finished up Section One this
week and will take a quiz next week.

Notes from Mr. Wandell:

You would never know that we only have two and half days of school left. The
class’s behavior has been exceptional this week.

We took our MYPAS (Mid Year Performance Assessment Standards) tests last
week. I look forward to sharing those results with you and your child when
we track back on.

We are making gingerbread houses on Monday with our buddy kindergarten class
(Ms. Buchberger). The good news – my mother in law has generously donated
all of the supplies.

We are tracking off on Wednesday. Please provide your child with two, white
plastic grocery bags. This will keep their books and supplies organized.

I hope you have a wonderful Holiday season and get to spend some “fun” time
with your child during their off track time. I look forward to teaching my
wife and daughter how to snow ski, as I did with my son years ago. I also
look forward to spending time with my friends and family.

When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses.
