About The Teacher

Drama Department Chair

College Major: Musical Theatre
College Minors: Art History & Costume Design
College Degree: Bachelor of Fine Arts
California Clear Teaching Credential

Children: Elise - a graduate of USC (film production)
Christian - an sophmore Environmental Science Major at SJSU
The two greatest kids in the world!

Dog: Potter (Maltese/Toy Poodle Mix)
The worst trained dog in the world! Good thing he's cute.

Favorite Color: Pink, baby or AQUA BLUE are top picks, but almost any color
could be a fav., depending on my mood.

Favorite Place: Disneyland! I never get tired of it, unless I'm TIRED.... or
stressed. In that case my favorite spot is definitely BURKE WILLIAMS SPA!

Favorite Disney Character: Tinkerbell. She's small but fiesty!

Favorite things to do: Hang out with my family, get a massage, practice
yoga, travel, sew, read, & attend theaters, museums, & concerts. Trying new
things is fun as well!

Some of my students and close relations think it is strange that I don't
watch any television. I encourage everyone to try it! You end up spending
more time with your family, creating, listening to music, reading and other
fulfilling activities. I admit, I do like movies - especially old ones that
feature over the top water ballets or mermaids. Who doesn't though, right?

Countries I have visited: England, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Greece,
Turkey, New Zealand & Costa Rica. Oh!..& the Islands! The Bahamas & Jamaica-
I love the Caribbean.

Some of my favorite books: The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul - Douglas
Adams, Man's Search for Meaning - Viktor Frankl, The Lathe of Heaven -
Ursula K. Le Guin, Me Talk Pretty One Day - David Sedaris, The Great
Divorce - C.S.Lewis, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - J.R.R.Tolkien, Harry
Potter (all of them) - J.K.Rowling

Collections: I am not crazy about anything that matches exactly. I love
vintage, especially from the 50's & 60's including handbags, Mexican art,
material/fabric, pin cushions, clothing, bluebirds, pillows, ornaments,
childrens books, mermaids, teacups, Disneyana and vintage wedding cake
toppers.

Favorite Places to Shop: Ebay. It's vintage heaven! I also love antique
stores, & small boutiques. Venice Beach is a pretty cool place to browse as
well- excellent local artists. I encourage supporting local artists,
craftsman & vendors. I have not ever stepped foot in a Walmart. I encourage
all of my students to research their favorite shops, especially if they are
inexpensive (example- Forever 21).

Political Stance: Liberal

Religion: Christian - definitely, but I don't affiliate myself with any
organization right now, especially anything that is fundamental,
conservative or nationalistic. Many spiritual leaders and thinkers have made
an impact on my beliefs, so I have a great respect for many different
religious schools of thought.

Why I Love Teaching at Millikan: THE STUDENTS!!!! The L.A. area is diverse,
fun and progressive. Plus - where else can you find a Performing Arts Middle
School?

Mission For The Class

Don't stand by and accept things just because they are. First, question
logically. Then learn to be still and listen for the answers in your heart.

To seek happiness for ourselves is to seek to bring happiness to others.
Each of us has a responsibility to try and make the world a better place.

                                            One Love
