Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions from students and parents.
If I am absent, what do I do about turning in my classwork and homework?
Each Jr Hi teacher has different requirements; check with each teacher. For Mrs. Little, when possible, send assignments in with a classmate or sibling so that your work is on time. Be sure to have someone pick-up your books; call a trusted friend to verify the classwork/homework list. Late work will be accepted up to 24 hours after your return to school.Back to Top
Why do I need to follow directions?
Directions are given for a number of purposes. One is to help you learn to go step-by-step to get it right; you'll need this skill often in life. Another is so that you don't jump ahead and miss a learning opportunity. Directions are also important to follow so that corrections may be done properly; if you didn't follow directions, the person correcting may not find your response and you might miss out on points! An SC student is a problem solver who can plan, set, and work effectively toward a goal; following directions helps you develop this skill.Back to Top

I am usually in rm 23 between 7:30 AM and 7:50 AM, and again for 30 minutes after school. Be sure to use hotmath.com for math help. You are always welcome to see me to make an appointment time to work on a problem.Back to Top
When may I use my bonus certificates?
Read the certificate carefully. Also, listen to the criteria for use when you receive your certificates. Directions for HOW to use the certificate are printed on your copy. All certificates expire on May 14, 2010, unless another expiration date is on the certificate. I keep track of usage for each student for each certificate; certificates are non-transferable.Back to Top
How are grades weighted to calculate the final grade?
The weights vary by both quarter and by category. All of my classes have grade categories including tests, POD work, individual work, participation, and cooperation; some classes also have categories such as lab work or projects; other categories are sometimes utilized. Depending on quarter content, weights in these categories may shift. Be sure to ask at the beginning of each quarter for an update on the weights of categories for your quarter grade.Back to Top
