Mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 15th, and plan on attending the Tehachapi Valley Oaks Holiday Program! Our K-12 students will be entertaining us with festive songs of the season followed by a play sure to make you laugh, “Beauty is a Beast”. Refreshments will be served after the program.

Please have your student at Mountain Bible Church at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 15th for a quick run-through of our songs. Children should be seated by 6:15 pm. *Don’t forget to bring 1 dozen cookies!

Please have your student at Mountain Bible Church at 4:15 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 15th for a 20 minute rehearsal. You will be able to take your student home to dress and eat before the performance. All students should be back at church by 6:15pm. * Don’t forget to bring 1 dozen cookies!

Valley Oaks Charter School National Geography Bee
On January 6th VOCS will hold its 3rd annual National Geographic Geography Bee. The competition will be held in Bakersfield at 11:00 and in Tehachapi at 2:00. The two winners will face off in the finals (location to be determined later). This is open to 4th through 8th graders. Meetings
Parents of 8th Grade Students
The Constitution class will be offered during Enrichment Sessions 3 & 4, beginning on Friday, January 15, 2010. This class will prepare your student for the mandatory Constitution testing that Valley Oaks requires for graduation. I'd like to meet with parents only on Wednesday, January 6th, for an informational meeting. It will be held in Classroom B/C at 2:00pm.  Field Trips
Sierra Summit Ski Trip - Monday January 11, 2010

Must be there by 8:00 am, participants are responsible for your own transportation.

Student Price:

$20 includes Lift Ticket, Rental of ski or snow board equipment, and 1 hour group lesson.

*if the student has their own equipment the price is still $20.

Adult Prices:

Lift Ticket: $35

Equipment Rental: $20

1 hour group lesson: $10

Lunch:

Participants can bring their own food and drinks, however, a $5 pre-ordered lunch will be available.

The deadline to turn in paperwork and pay is Friday December 18th, 2009. Tehachapi families contact Nickki in classroom A to fill out paperwork and pay fees (cash only).

"Day in Court" Field trip for 6th-8th Graders! 
On Friday, January 8, 2010, Valley Oaks 6th-8th grade students are invited to the Mojave Courthouse to observe actual court cases as they are brought to pre-trial. This exciting field trip is sponsored by the Tehachapi Four Seasons Optimist Club and will include an essay contest on the topic, "My Day in Court".
