About The Teacher
Hello! My name is Dana Cookson and I am looking forward to being your child's first grade teacher. I have worked at Calhan Elementary for nine years. This will be my fifth year teaching first grade. My husband Curtis and I have been married for eighteen years and have two children. Cameron and Riley both attend Calhan Middle/High School. Some of our hobbies are camping, gardening, golfing, basketball, and hiking. We also have a small Zoo which includes; (4)dogs, (2)cats, (2)horses, and (3) fish. :)

My professional goals include developing a wide array of effective teaching strategies to aid all diverse learners, finding multiple ways to include parents in this learning process, and building a caring community inside and outside of our classroom.As a educator I will focus on helping your child discover their personal best.
