Editor-in-Chief

Your job as Editor-in-Chief is to coordinate all phases of the newspaper project.  Your initial task will be to assign articles to your newspaper correspondents.  The required articles are listed below:

Causes of the Civil War (500-600 words) – power, balance, internal improvements, slavery, nationalism v. states rights

Battles (400-500 words each) select three of the following (separate articles): 

          First Manassas

          Second Manassas

          Antietam

          Fredericksburg

          Chancellorsville

          Gettysburg

          Vicksburg

          Shiloh

          Cedar Creek

          Wilderness

          Spotsylvania

Geography (200-300 words) – select three of the following (separate articles):

          Geography of your region

          How geography can be used for strategy in battle

          Mason-Dixon Line

          Movement of regiments (Sherman’s March to the Sea)

          Strategy maps

          Maps of battles

          Common underground railroad routes

         

Economics (200-300 words)

          Economic health of your region at onset of war

          Economic strengths and weaknesses

          Costs of the war

          Regional economy

         

Transportation and Communication (250-350 words)

 

Home Front (500-600 words) – War efforts by women, Civil War fashions, cost of war on families, shortages and inflation

 

Medicine (300-400 words)

 

Technology/Weapons (400-500 words)

 

Soldier’s Life (250-350 words)

 

Biography of a Great War Leader (200-300 words)

 

Biography of President (200-300 words)
