Art is not simply about self-expression and exploration. And it is not about
ability or talent. Art is a learned skill, and art is one of the subjects that
interweaves all content areas together. It encourages and promotes critical
thinking, problem solving, communication and evaluation. This year you will be
challenged to view the world differently, to use creative thinking and
collaboration to solve problems, and to communicate ideas both visually and
verbally. I hope you are ready for an exciting year of learning and growth.
