Ms. Beatty graduated from Widefield High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado
as the class valedictorian in 1993. She received the Boettcher Scholarship
which provided for most of her college education.
In high school, she loved science and took every science class offered. She
was also a track athlete and took 10th place at the state track meet in the
200m dash her senior year.
She graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO in 1998.
She earned an honors BS degree in physics, a mathematics minor, and teacher
endorsement in science. She did her student teaching in physics, physical
science, and computers at Coronado High School in the fall of 1998.
She obtained an MEd degree in curriculum and instruction from the University
of Phoenix in 2005.
Her first teaching job was as a physics/physical science teacher at Rangeview
High School in Aurora, Colorado after a semester of substitute teaching in
Colorado Springs District 11. She earned an award as New Teacher of the Year
from the Aurora Public Schools Board of Education.
She then returned to Colorado Springs and taught science and mathematics
grades 6-8 at Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy in Cheyenne Mountain District
12 for 2 years. During this time, she wrote the curriculum map for science
for the school and chaired the math and science departments. She also
obtained an endorsement for teaching mathematics from the Colorado
Department of Education during this time.
This is Ms. Beatty's 7th year teaching math at Coronado High School. She
helped to create the AP Statistics course for the district. She has also
helped to create the 11th grade mathematics curriculum guide, the 10th grade
revised math curriculum, and helped mentor other teachers.
and served on a variety of committees and helped mentor other teachers. She
has sponsored the Guitar Club.
Her favorite interests include spending time with family, geocaching, and
reading.
