About The Teacher

My name is Mrs. Count and I am looking forward to teaching and getting to
know your students, many of whom I have already had in my classes. I have
been involved with Denver Public Schools for a total of 17 years both as
a parent and teacher. This is my sixth year at Hamilton. Prior to
entering the teaching profession I spent over 20 years working for various
telecommunications corporations in sales and marketing positions. Therefore,
I bring a real-world background to using computers in school and business
situations. In addition to my business experience I have a BS in Marketing
from the University of Colorado and an MBA from the University of Montana.

I am married and mom to three boys – Matthew, Andrew and Sean. Matthew
graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS and the University of Northern Colorado.
Matthew is now teaching English to elementary students in Bangkok, Thailand.
Andrew graduated from George Washington HS and the University of Denver. He
is taking time off and working at a law firm before going to law school.
Sean is in fifth grade at Southmoor Elementary in DPS. Outside of class I am
an avid reader and enjoy Karate, traveling, and spending time with my family.

Mission For The Class

In my classes students will learn 21st century technology skills for
school and business applications. In each grade I teach different parts of
the Microsoft Office 2007 suite of products and how to better use the
Internet for research. To be more specific in 6th grade I focus on MS Word
2007, 7th graders will work on MS PowerPoint 2007, and 8th graders will learn
MS Excel 2007. Each class will have projects that help them learn more
advanced Internet searching techniques.

All writing in my classes follow the Maureen Auman “Step Up To Writing”
guidelines along with the rest of the school. In addition, when students
finish early they are able to read their AR books or have Internet Choice &
Exploration (ICE) time on the Internet.
