I am a graduate of the University of Arizona (Go, 'Cats!) with a BA in
Spanish and French. After a short time studying engineering, I entered the
college of education and completed my teacher certification classes. I did
my student teaching at CANYON del ORO High School, then moved to Las Vegas,
Nevada, to teach Spanish and French before settling in Denver. I have a
Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from CU, specializing in
Bilingual/ESL. I earned my National Board Certification in World Languages
in 2005.
Every chance I get (every time I have a bit of pesos) I go to Mexico, my
favorite place on earth! There is not a single spot of this country that is
not (at least, to me) beautiful, fascinating, friendly.
I live in the Hamilton area with my family, and you can see me around
the 'hood walking my 2 beautiful pups, Pancho and Cisco. We try to go to
lots of Hamilton sports events together.
I also like to exercise. In May 2007, I earned my 1st degree BLACK BELT in
Tae Kwon Do.
My favorite foods are chocolate, just about any veggie (cooked or raw), and
most DESSERTS*. I adore coffee, and can never venture far from my house
without my morning cup to start the day.
*I hate bananas!!! I hate raisins!!! If dessert contains either of these, I
am forced to skip dessert, which is a sad, sad thing, and will make me
really grumpy.
This class will cover the first 1/2 of our textbook, REALIDADES. I also
like to add lots of extra, fun stuff, like ROCK EN ESPAÑOL and some silly
stories about animals.
The topics covered in the text include:
likes, dislikes
food, diet, healthy habits
adjectives, describing oneself
school supplies and schedules
places in the community
leisure activities
