1. Students will select group members and a major biome to research. Groups
should contain no more than 4. Each of the following biomes must be
researched:
a. Aquatic biome
b. Desert biome
c. Forest biome
d. Grassland biome
e. Tundra biome
2. All members within each group will be responsible for researching all
the material. Within each group, members will be assigned a different job.
1. Recorder - responsible for taking notes while researching.
2. Monitor - helps monitor to make sure everyone is staying on task
and interfaces with the teacher for the group with questions/concerns, etc.
3. Material manager - gathers and makes sure group has all the
materials needed to create a three dimensional map
4. Designer - responsible for a rough draft of a layout of the
Powerpoint presentation
3. Each group will research their biome and create a Power point
presentation of their biome. Their finished product must display a title of
their biome, the climate, animals and plants. It must also address the
essential question (see enduring understanding section of the webquest).
4. Each group will create a three dimensional map of their biome.
5. A final presentation explaining the groups research and conclusions will
be presented to their classmates.
6. The finished products will be taken to the 3rd and 4th grade classrooms
for students to vote on which biome they would like to visit and why. The
winner of the contest will recieve an ice cream party.
7. Each individual student will be responsible for completing a biome food
chart using Kidspiration, a temperature chart for his/her biome and a world
biome map indicating where his/her biome appears.
