REID SUTHERLAND WINS POETRY OUT LOUD
Sophomore Reid Sutherland was this year's Poetry Out Loud winner and
represented NHS at the state finals in Lakewood on March 19.
Mr. KROENUNG'S PLAY "WEST" PUBLISHED
Mr.Kroenung's play "West", about a Nazi officer and his Jewish former
girlfriend meeting at a concentration camp, ill be published in March in THE
FIGHT MASTER, the journal of the Society of American Fight Directors. It is
the first work of fiction ever accepted by the publication.
MR. KROENUNG IS A WINNER DURING NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH
He wrote 50,000 words in November, despite a late start and losing days to
parent conferences, etc. Over Thanksgiving break alone he managed 25,000
words. That's about 8 typed pages a day.
ELOISE MORRIS WINS 3RD PLACE AT STATE SHAKESPEARE ACTING CONTEST!
This means NHS has won 1st and 3rd in the last three contests. Way to go!

the 500 block across from the community theatre.

CLAIRE FOWLER WINS THE DISTRICT COMPASSION ESSAY CONTEST!
She won $50 and another $50 was donated in her name to the Humane Society. Way
to go!

Shakespeare's tragedy was presented February 24, 25, and 26 at the Xilinx
Retreat Center. There were very few open seats and all went wonderfully.
Congratulations to the cast and crew on our best Food Fight play ever.

BRIMSTONE AND LILY WINS BRONZE MEDAL AT THE INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER BOOK AWARDS!
Winners were announced May 13 for this national writing award.
BRIMSTONE AND LILY was in the final 5 for Fantasy/Science Fiction and took
home the Bronze.
The awards ceremony was in New York City on May 25. Mr. Kroenung was in
Niwot giving final exams. :(
The Bronze Medal is very pretty and Olympian. Heavy, too.
