FIRST TRIMESTER
Color theory lesson. Children learned how to mix two primary colors to make a secondary color. The lesson was colorwheel fish project using tempera paint.
Experimenting with watercolors. The children painted a colorwheel flower with watercolors. They had so much fun!
Square One Art project for our fundraiser...this year it is an adorable peacock painting.
Kandisky circle project: this was a group mural project.
What is texture? Children observed texture in several pieces of art. We then created texture painted paper.
Painted paper pumpkin project
Perspective! It is never to early to learn about perspective in art. This was the first time I did this lesson and most of the kids got it.

Line is an element of art. Leaf line project and printing.
SECOND TRIMESTER

Read "Monsters Don't Eat Broccoli" and children drew monsters in a cityscape.

The art of paper weaving.
Painted penguins
What is a still life? The children learned about Paul Cezanne and painted a still life from observation.
THIRD TRIMESTER
Observed and discussed the artist Grant Wood and his most famous
American Gothic.
They learned about facial proportions and made a collograph self portrait. The most fun was printing the collograph with ink.
Reviewing line as an element of art. What is a sculpture? Observed the
Great Sphinx
and
The Thnker.
They made crazy line sculptures out of pipe cleaners, beads and model magic!
Observed and discussed Claude Monet, Impressionism and his gorgeous water lily paintings.
