  • 1ST TRIMESTER
  • Colorwheel sailboats. Children reviewed color mixing for this project. They loved to make the color of mud by mixing all the colors together.
  • Square One Art project for our fundraiser...this year the children drew and painted birdhouses.
  • Vincent Van Gogh--the children learned about his style of artwork and his life. They created two Van Gogh projects.
  • Oil pastel and curling paper for The Starry Night.

  • 2ND TRIMESTER
  • Art Appreciation Georgia O'Keeffe. Children learned how to draw realistic flower petals and how to blend watercolors for a more natural looking flower.
  • Sculpture paper bag trees
  • Winter aspen trees with red cardinal.
  • Paper mosaic owls
  • The artist Henri Rousseau and his jungle paintings. The project was to a Toucan using and blending oil pastels.
  • 3RD TRIMESTER
  • What is abstract art and how does it compare to realistic artwork? The children are learning about Pablo Picasso and will be doing a scratch art project.
  • A look at Expressionism as a form of abstract art. Artists included Rothko, Pollock, and Frankenthaler.
  • Group mural project on inventing their own Neverland map.
  • Self Portrait including details of what they want to be when they grow up.
