Below is a list of the typical homework assignments in 3rd grade. If you have any questions about this, please contact your teacher. Please note that there is an expected total of 30 minutes homework, with an additional 20 minutes spent reading. Spelling homework comes from your Language Arts teacher, Math homework comes from your Math teacher, MMQ comes from your Homeroom teacher. (Confused yet?!) :-) DAILY(Monday - Thursday): Reading--20 minutes of reading, in addition to the other homework. This can be a parent reading to the student, the student reading alone, an older sibling buddying up with the younger one, etc. Thanks! Flashcards--10 minutes of flashcard practice (see your math teacher for which operation to be studying) Spelling--1 page each night from your spelling packet; packet given on Monday, returned on Friday). Approximately 10 minutes. Math--10 minutes of math practice on a current topic, usually a worksheet or book assignment; assignment given each day during math class, returned the following day. WEEKLY: C & C--Assigned on Monday, due on Thursday. This will be a mix of Core Knowledge (Science & Social Studies) mini-research assignments, and character trait discussion assignments. OTHER: A few other long term projects will be assigned throughout the year (i.e. science fair, research reports, social studies presentations). These will be given far in advance, with checkpoints and deadlines along the way to help with pacing. It is expected that you will work on these on nights when other homework is short or canceled, making sure to work a little bit each week, rather than a lot during the last week! Don't forget the 30 minute rule!!
