High School Choir Class

The Black Forest Vocal Clinic at Colorado Springs School, an annual event for school choirs in the Black Forest league, was Monday, Oct.26. Our ladies' ensemble participated despite a 2 hour weather delay. The photo above was taken during one of the afternoon rehearsals.

                   

OUR NEXT PERFORMANCE IS DECEMBER 3, 2009 AT 7:00 PM. Students should be in the music room at 6:20 pm.

PPCS High School Ladies Ensemble meets daily 2:26 - 3:15

Choir students will:

·       learn about the human voice as an instrument and how to use it properly

·       sing alone or with others

·       develop an appreciation and knowledge of different music genres

·       build sight-reading skills

·       learn basic theory

·       sharpen performance skills

                              

Student grades :

Daily participation - 40%

                         Performances  -   40%

                Quizzes, assignments, memorization deadlines  –  20%

Rehearsal expectations :  

·       be seated when the bell rings with materials (folder, music, pencil, water)

·       raise hand and wait to be recognized before speaking out (unless we are brainstorming)

·       listen and participate

·       keep a positive attitude

·       be respectful to teacher and peers by refraining from private conversations when anyone is talking or singing

·       check in with Mrs. Carlile for information missed when absent from class

·       SING

Performance expectations :

  • Music must be memorized

  • Arrive punctually in proper attire

  • Participation is mandatory

Our performance schedule for the year is posted with adequate notice for everyone to mark calendars. If there is a conflict with a concert date, please see me immediately.

Please avoid missing rehearsals the week of a performance!  Personal illness or family emergencies are considered excused absences. Jobs and making up tests from another class will not be excused during a performance week.
