THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone who brought in Pringles cans!!! We had enough for all 150 children who passed through my project today! Our Winter Holidays Around the World Celebration was a terrific time for everyone. The kids travelled in groups to all of the primary classrooms (Kindergarten through second grade) and learned about a different country in each classroom. They learned how those countries celebrate the winter holiday. The students travelled to China, Germany, India, Israel, Nigeria, and Sweden. Ask to see your child's passport (he/she got a stamp in each country...as well as many crafts).
Afterwards we went to the library for our combined AM/PM winter party. The kids moved in stations to decorate sugar cones (with frosting, candy sprinkles, and cereal), make reindeer food, throw "snowballs", and of course eat food! A huge thank you to Mrs. Martinez and Mrs. Price who helped plan and orchestrate the party and also to all of the parents who helped. Thank you so much!!! I've just uploaded two new slide shows on my slide show link. One for the Holidays Around the World event and one for the Winter Party. ENJOY!!!
A few reminders: We are off for winter break. School starts back up on Monday, January 4th. That is a change from our previous schedule (to make up for snow days).
Also, if your child isn't featured on any of the slide shows, it is because you signed a form stating that you do NOT want your child's image to be posted on a public website. If you change your mind and would like your child's pictures added, you need to go to the office and ask to change your status with Mrs. Poulliot. Once you have done so, let me know and I will add your child's photos.
Have a terrific Winter Break!!!!!!

Please label your child's backpack very clearly. To make sure that all of our coats and backpacks fit on to our coathooks, things have been moved around, but nametags don't match everything. You may also want to consider labelling your child's coat. It may seem impossible, but several children have lost coats at the school before.
For those of you wondering, what is my child talking about when they say that kids get their desks decorated on their birthday and big kids come to sing to them. This is the birthday fund raiser. For $10 your child's desk is decorated on his/her birthday, they are given a goody bag, and the 8th graders come sing to them. If you are interested, please contact Joan Gilmour at
jgilmour@platteriveracademy.com . The prefer 48 hours notice if possible. :)

Check out the cool new slide show gallery link on my site. Hopefully this will be a fun way to see the photo's that get taken this year!
Please try to remember at this time of year how important it is to make sure you child gets plenty of rest. So often families are so busy that the children don't get as much rest as they need and have a difficult time learning in school.
If you have any questions, or feel like there is something missing from my site that may be helpful, please let me know.
