How do Transition Services work for me?

Routt County Transition Services provides support with study skills,
prioritizing, time management, and academic tutoring. Students who choose to
take a class at CMC receive these same services as well. Academically at the
Stepping Stones location we work to further develop budgeting and money
management skills. We also provide vocational exploration including interview
skills, job skills, and the development of the skills necessary to obtain
necessary information for the career field.

How are money management and budgeting used to real world situations?

Each week the students are given the opportunity to plan meals. Usually done
earlier in the week students discuss and decide on a meal plan for two meals,
one dinner and one breakfast. They then work on navigating the community
through public transportation services. At the grocery store they use skills
to estimate the cost of each item and show it through fake money and keep a
running total of the items being purchased. At checkout they compare the
actually price to the real total to see whether they have estimated enough and
stayed within the budget.
