Who is Mrs. Carrell?

    I spent my formative years in a wonderful resort town, an island city, 
in Northern Wisconsin. It was a place where both summer and winter 
activities abounded, and my friends and I drove snowmobiles to school in the 
wintertime.
    My college education was at the University of Wisconsin, as well as one 
year at the Edgehill College of Education in Ormskirk, Lancashire, England. 
One of my student teaching stints was in Liverpool. Taking total
advantage of this placement, I traveled throughout Scandinavia and other 
parts of Europe. Once back in the States, the traveling bug really bit, and 
I had to work hard to financially afford my expensive habit; I traveled back 
to Europe three times, to Russia, and even Africa! But then, my fiance gave 
me an ultimatum.  I returned to the U.S., got married, and eventually 
birthed 3 kiddos(real Steamboat natives).
    I have been at SSMS about 23 years and LOVE teaching 6th graders. They 
are my favorite age group-so full of passion and hormones at the same time. 
My hobbies include reading, playing in a bell choir, being a grandmother of 
3 babies, reading, watching Discovery and Travel shows, and did I mention 
reading??

Mission For The Class

     I wish to convey the importance and pleasure that learning can convey. 
It is my mission to create independent, life-long learners who desire to 
autograph their work with excellence. I like to remind students that every 
day, we can get a little smarter!
