| APOLOGIES TO DICKENS AND TO SUESS
The Halls were all empty
The staff was gone for the break
Only Mean Green—the cleaning machine
Was left in their wake
In the office, a single light burned low
Surrounded by papers so tidy and snug
“CSAP is coming, CSAP is coming”
“No staff, no students, what will we do”—“Bah Humbug”
His name is Ebenezer Tim
A likeable chap
But with statewide testing, He had no time to relax, not even to nap
Reading, Writing and Math
If that was not enough
But he also had science
Just to make things tough
So all alone Tim remained
Data sheets by his side
Little did he know?
Who was about to arrive?
As he poured through released items from CDE
His eyelids grew heavy and began to drop
Even extended responses, constructive and short responses
Could not keep him up
Deep in slumber, Ebenezer fell
A sleep until now seemed so rare
Until the jingling sound of keys
Made him jump up fully aware
The person dangling the keys
Just outside Tim’s door
Was none other than Jerry, his loyal partner
Who whispered in his ear, “You’ll be visited 3 times more”
Just as quickly
Jerry was out of sight
And just as often, He was right
For no sooner had he left, No sooner had he gone
Arriving and entering the office
Was spirit number one!
I am the spirit of CSAP past
I am the one they call Cyndy
I was the one who hired you
I was the one who gave you KSBP
I tried to lure you to Washington
Not the one named D.C.
You wanted to remain here
And begin your own dy-no-stee
You started off well, not super
Every year kept getting better
Your teachers continued to work smarter
And you hired some real go-getters
In the blink of an eye
She was no longer there
When in entered spirit number two
Virtually out of nowhere
You took a building of high achievers
And made a school of excellence
You provided a place where it is fun to be
Which will lead you to the top more than once
Your staff works hard and plays harder still
That can only lead to greater things
From the ghost of CSAP present
Or Donna Howell—the one with the bling
Oh wow! Was this simply too much
For Ebenezer Tim to bear?
Could he trust his ole sidekick,
Was there one more ghost out there?
If CSAP past and CSAP present
Could leave such good reviews
Would his luck eventually run out?
Could he stand anything new?
Sure enough…After having nodded off
For just a second or two
In came spirit 3
CSAP future was coming due
What could possibly be in his future?
This spirit would surely know
Just look into the crystal ball
Look it is beginning to glow!
Spirit 3 or John D
What did it matter?
Surely Ebenezer Tim was dust
CSAP future began to chatter
“A future of dedicated staff
Wanting the best for all
Was already evident in the way
Success permeated throughout the halls”
“Nothing would keep this group down
In an attempt to become number one
The best in the state is there goal
And the work had just begun”
So RELAX said the spirit
Trust in those on the bus
Continue to offer encouragement and support
And set high expectations, just because
With that Tim awoke
A smile and grin on his face
It is all right for his staff to be home
With family is surely the place
CSAP’s will come and they will go
Depending on political whim
It is whom we get to know
Realized Ebenezer Tim
So off he goes
Skipping and shuffling along the way
Enjoying his wife and kids
Nothing better could end his day
Well…
This has gone on too long
And the point, no doubt has been missed
What a wonderful place we live
What a school, what a staff, what kids
