| WELCOME INCOMING STUDENTS AND PARENTS
As I approach my 26th year in the district I look forward our best year at
SSMS. The reasons for my optimism are three-fold:
First, we will have one of the most active groups of students we have ever
had. I anticipate more involvement in extra-curricular activities, both
academic and athletic than we have had in years. Research has proven time
and time again the leading indicator of success in adults is their
participation in activities outside of the classroom. Please continue to
support your children in their extra-curricular endeavors.
Second, we have a great staff dedicated to make your son or daughter’s
middle school experience as good as can be. We hope to both challenge and
support each and every student in our building. It is with great pride that
we view all students as our own. Currently we are putting together school-
wide systems that aspire to ensure that success for our entire population.
Third, I am thankful that I live and work in an area such as Steamboat
Springs. Not only do we live in a beautiful place, we live in a community
that appreciates and supports the education of its youth. We ask that you
continue your support and that you participate in all of the opportunities
available for parents and members of the community to be a part of their
schools.
For 26 years I have looked forward to the new school year. Every year I hope
to put into practice something I have learned or gained over the school year
and summer. Let the fun begin!
