Howdy Partners!
Take Home Folders will be coming home soon. Please set up a schedule to check your child's backpack each day for information and for daily homework. Students are anxious to get started with their daily homework-go first grade Buckeroos!. Remember to return this take home folder every day even if your child does not complete the assignments. This folder is a tool the teachers use to communicate daily and to transport homework, completed work and projects, and curriculum information.
Please send in math coins soon, if you haven't already. The math lessons have started and your child needs to have the coins available. The first game the students learn to play is the Penny Dice game. You can play it at home, too.
Here are the directions:
Start with 20 pennies. First player rolls the die. Count the dots. Player then must count the exact number of pennies. Take turns until all pennies have been picked up. To pick up the last pennies, the number on the die much match the number of pennies remaining. The player with the most pennies is the winner. This game practices partnership principles and counting objects from 1-6.
