Coach Chris Adams has been teaching Physical Education at Soda
Creek Elementary School for three years. Chris moved to Steamboat
Springs from Whidbey Island Washington where he taught Middle
School Physical Education and Health for seven years at Langley Middle
School. Coach Adams has also been coaching high school and middle
school sports for the past 10 years. His favorite sports to play and
coach include basketball and softball. Besides these activities Coach
enjoys outdoor recreational hobbies such as backpacking, skiing,
mountain biking, golfing, and camping.
Coach Adams really enjoys his job here at Soda Creek Elementary! The
students here in Steamboat are the best! He looks forward to coming
to school every day and has a passion for teaching physical skills,
promoting physical fitness, and giving kids the knowledge to live an
active and healthy lifestyle. Living in the winter climate of the Rocky
Mountains and teaching elementary Physical Education has been a
welcomed and exciting challenge for Coach Adams. Meeting the
diverse needs and the energy levels of children in grades 1 through 5
has been a learning experience for Chris. Along with these challenges,
Coach has enjoyed learning and teaching activities such as
Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, cupstacking, and gymnastics.
The mission for our Physical Education program is to give students the
physical skills, the knowledge, and the fitness habits to live an active
and healthy lifestyle. Students are also developing positive social
habits and are expected to show their Soda Creek Virtues and positive
sportsmanship during Physical Education class.
