Camp/School Procedures

In the morning, students may not arrive before 8:00 a.m. as we have no supervision until then. After 8:00, students in grades 1-5 proceed to the play area. Kindergarten students enter the fenced area on 7th Street. Parents who walk or bike to school with their grade 1-5 child should proceed to the corner of 7th & Pine or 8th & Pine and assure that their child enters the play area safely.  School personnel will direct students who are dropped off in the lane on 7th Street to go to the play area where we have supervision.  Parents are asked to not enter the play area unless necessary as the supervisors need to be able to safely monitor students' needs.

At 8:15 a.m., students will begin to proceed to classroom cabins.  Staff members will be present to assist students who need extra support.  For security reasons, parents are asked to not walk their child to the classroom.  Our classroom doors are locked at all times and we need to be aware of who is on campus at all times.

Late arrivals: Students who arrive after 8:20 a.m. must check in at the office to be registered as present in our computer system.  Our office staff will escort groups of students to class so they can enter the locked classroom without disturbing the beginning activities teachers plan.  Parents will not escort late students to the class because the rooms are locked and knocking will disturb those grounding morning activities so important for the beginning of the day.

Parents: Parents who need to drop off something for a child, talk with a teacher or who have any other needs must come to the office located on Pine Street between 7th & 8th Streets.  We are here to assist you and we will take needed items to the classroom for you, help you leave a voicemail for a teacher who will call you at his/her earliest convenience when he/she is not teaching,or will find answers to any questions or needs you have!  If parents wish to have lunch with their child, they must check in at the office and receive a visitor's lanyard before proceeding to the lunchroom.  Once we get our parent volunteer program in place, all volunteers will also register at the office and receive a visitor's lanyard.

Dismissal: At 3:05 each day, teachers will escort all students grades 1-5 to 7th Street where students will proceed to the bus, meet parents who walk or bike in or wait for pick-up by the supervisors who are in orange vests.  Kindergarten students will remain in the fenced area on 7th Street for the same purposes.

There is only one entrance to Camp Soda Creek and that is in front of the main office on Pine Street.  All other blacktop paths are EXITS only.  Please do not enter our campus from 7th or 8th Street paths.

We are asking for everyone's help toward making our campus safe and fun.  For our security plans to work, we need everyone's support.  We are working hard to balance security issues with continuing to make Soda Creek a very welcoming and friendly place for visitors.  It is very important for us to continue to team and support every student's needs and I look forward to those opportunities.  Thank you all, in advance, for your support and for following our safety plans.  We realize that this is a change from the past and trust that you will understand the need for these procedures.
