My name is Zachary Bastoky and I will be your child's first/second grade
teacher this year. I am very excited to be returning for my third year at
Southmoor and my seventh year of teaching. This will be my second year of the
1/2 combination class.
I graduated from Bowling Green University with a B.S. in Early Childhood
Education. I started my teaching career for teaching 2 years with the Bering
Strait School District in rural Alaska in the Yupik Eskimo villages of Saint
Michael and Stebbins. I previously taught a 1/2 combination class in my second
year of teaching in Saint Michael.
After teaching in Alaska, I moved to West Los Angeles and taught for the
Culver City Unified School District for two years. I taught both 4th and 5th
grades while teaching for the CCUSD. My wife and I moved to
Denver two years ago and I was fortunate enough to join the teaching staff
here at Southmoor.
My mission for the class is to learn something new every day in an
interactive and enriching environment. I hope to instill a sense of
community and collaboration with the 1/2 class where students in both grades
will learn and support one another on a daily basis.
