I graduated from University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Music Education in 1986.
My first job was in Ordway, CO, teaching the 5th - 12th grades bands, the high school choir, and an
8th grade Spanish class. From 1988 - 1991, I taught vocal and general music at Hamilton Middle
School in Denver, but then took 15 years off to be home with our three children. In January, 2007, I
came to Thomas Jefferson HIgh School, and have continued in this position to the present. Besides
teaching in the schools, I have been giving private lessons in my home since 1987.
I am a member of the American Bandmasters Association, American String Teachers Association, as
well as Music Educators National Conference. I have completed the full certification for the
Organization of American Kodaly Educators, as well as the first levels for Orff training and Suzuki
piano teaching.
It's a pleasure to be back in the classroom.
The instrumental music program at Thomas Jefferson High School strives to provide students with
opportunities for a variety of musical experiences. This program serves all levels of performers, from
beginners to aspiring music majors.
