Check out our activities below: 4:30 a.m. departure from Amity High School on B & B Transportation bus to JFK 8:38 a.m. Delta flight 485 to Bermuda 11:55 a.m. arrive in Bermuda (Bermuda is one hour ahead of Ct), clear customs--taxis to BIOS 12:30 p.m. orientation at BIOS followed by making our own packed lunches 2:00 p.m. BIOS bus to Whalebone Bay snorkel 4:30 p.m. return to BIOS by BIOS bus--shower, relax before dinner 5:45 p.m. dinner 7:00 p.m. Lecture by Kaitlyn Baird--Sargasso Sea (Bermuda's Marine Life) 10:00 p.m. Lights out. . .we are all tired! Check out our activities below: 7:00 a.m. Rise and Shine 7:45 a.m. Breakfast 8:45 a.m. BIOS Bus dropoff at Tobacco Bay for an hour snorkel in Tobacco Bay, St. Georges 10:00 a.m. Walk to Achilles Bay for a 40 minute snorkel in Achilles Bay, St. Georges 11:00 a.m. BIOS Bus pickup at Achilles Bay 11:45 a.m. Lunch on the station at BIOS 1:00 p.m. Boat (The Rum Tide) to Admiralty Park snorkel flooded caves near Hamilton 2:00 p.m. Boat to Gibbet's Island for snorkel 4:30 p.m. Return to BIOS to shower and relax before dinner 5:45 p.m. Dinner on the station 7:00 p.m. Lecture on The History of Bermuda--The Wreck of the Sea Venture by Mr. Roger Goss 8:30 p.m. DVD Ocean Drifters by National Geographic Society 10:00 p.m. Lights out! Check out our activities below: 7:30 a.m. Rise and shine 7:45 a.m. Breakfast 9:00 a.m. BIOS Bus drop off on Ordnance Island in St. Georges, Bermuda 9:00--10:00 a.m. Historical tour of replica of The Deliverance, statue of Sir George Somers, the pillary and dunking chair, the Town Hall in King's Square, and Somers Garden 10:00--11:30 a.m. shopping in small shops in St. Georges 11:30 a.m. BIOS Bus back to the station 11:45 a.m. Lunch on the station 12:30 p.m. Special Celebration with cake of Mrs. Goss's retirement from Amity effective June 30th, and of 36 trips of students to Bermuda! 1:00 p.m. Research Vessel Stommel to Cooper's Island off of St. David's for snorkel 3:00 p.m. additional snorkel in St. George's Harbor around a small island 4:00 p.m. Plankton tow back to BIOS 5:45 p.m. Dinner on station 7:00 p.m. Plankton Lab in Clark Lab lead by Mrs. Nevois after her Plankton Lecture (pictures tomorrow) 8:00 p.m. Night snorkel at Fort St. Catherine's Beach had to be rescheduled to tomorrow evening. 9:30--10:30 p.m. Student presentations begin with Danelle L., Jessica F., Nevia S., Maya O., Mike P., & Alexis H. 11:00 p.m. Lights out Day 3 photos

Skinner, Assistant Director--Science Education Programs at Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS), about the Cooper's Island Restoration Project. 9:45 a.m. Brief walk around Cooper's Island 10:00 a.m. Survey of the acre of land already planted to tally the numbers and the growth of all Bermuda palmettos, buttonwood, olive wood, and cedar trees 11:00 a.m. Cooper's Island short swim (sighting of several turtles in the bay as well as two Portugese man o'war washed up on the beach 11:30 a.m. BIOS Bus pickup 11:45 a.m. Lunch on station 1:00 p.m. BIOS Bus to Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo (BAMZ) * much of the aquarium under construction 3:40 p.m. BIOS Bus pickup 4:00 p.m. Double Dip ice cream stop 5:45 p.m. Dinner on station--Birthday Cake celebration for Jill L. with balloons and strawberry ice cream 6:45 p.m. Sunderman Hall for a viewing of the DVD Bermuda's Depths: Those Who Dared to Dive 7:45 p.m. Get dive gear ready for night snorkel 8:00 p.m. BIOS Bus to Fort St. Catherine's Beach in St. Georges, Bermuda--moray eels, conches, West Indian top shells, huge lobsters, and more! 10:00 p.m. BIOS Bus return to station 11:00 p.m. Lights out Day 4 photos

Check out our day's activities below: 7:00 a.m. Rise and shine 7:45 a.m. Breakfast and the making of packed lunches to take with us for the day and eat off station 8:30 a.m. BIOS Bus to Walsingham Pond and Mangroves--lecture from Mrs. Cournoyer on Mangroves 9:30 a.m. BIOS Bus to Hamilton and Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute for guided tour of BUEI by Saria Hines at 10:00 a.m. 10:00--11:15 a.m. Guided tour of BUEI--early ocean exploration, lionfish invasion, shell collection, "Living with the Ocean" exhibit which highlights ocean destroyers, and ocean treasures, and the extensive shipwreck and treasures collection from the many shipwrecks which surround Bermuda 11:30 a.m. Packed lunch on the porch of BUEI 11:45 a.m. BIOS Bus to Dockyard for shopping, glassblowing, and dolphin adventure 2:00 p.m. BIOS Bus to Gibb's Hill Lighthouse--climbing Gibb's Hill Light 2:45 p.m. BIOS Bus to Horseshoe Bay for swimming and collection of Bermuda's "pink"sand 4:30 p.m. BIOS Bus to BIOS 5:45 p.m. Dinner on Station 7:00 p.m. Botany Scavenger Hunt and fun photo shoot on the grounds of the station 8:00 p.m. Mapping our journeys in Bermuda 8:30 p.m. Student presentations beginning with Allie R., Teddy C., Julia T., Heidi A., Jill L., Sam F., and Avery J. Day 6 - Activities

Check out our activities below: 7:30 a.m. Rise and shine 7:45 a.m. Breakfast and the making of packed lunch to eat later at the station (no hot lunch on Saturday or Sunday at BIOS) 8:30 a.m. Walk to Whalebone Bay at the end of Ferry Reach Road by way of the Bermuda Railtrail (There used to be a narrow gauge railroad around Bermuda. Remnants of the trail serve as walking trails on the island.) 9:30 a.m. Snorkel at Whalebone Bay 11:00 a.m. Return walk on Railtrail to BIOS 12:00 p.m. Packed lunch on the station 1:00--3:00 p.m. Study groups on the outdoor picnic area--Mr. Goss reviewed invertebrates, Mrs. Goss reviewed fish, Mrs. Nevolis reviewed the geology of Bermuda as well as botany 3:00--5:00 p.m. Exams (Note: second year student Avery worked on the written writeup of her independent study on the Cooper Island Restoration Project and survey.) 5:45 p.m. Dinner on the station 7:00 p.m. Pack for tomorrow's departure.
