Homework
Beginning in 5th grade, Spanish appears on the report cards. Your child will have homework and he/she will be graded on their participation in class, homework completion, behavior and effort. Parents often ask what they can do to help with their child's transition. I offer these "tips": Organization is important - Each student will set aside a section of their binder for Spanish. In this section, they will keep all notes from class, all class work, and all homework assignments, which will be graded and returned to them. Difficulties with homework - Everything that your child needs for the completion of Spanish homework should be found in the Spanish section of his/her binder. Homework assignments review class lessons, and NEVER concern new material. Vocabulary words and grammatical constructions needed for homework assignments will have been discussed and practiced in class; therefore, there should be lists or notes in your child's binder. Additional dictionaries are not necessary. If your child tells you that they don't know what to do, you might remind them: "What do you have in the Spanish section of your binder that might help you?" Classes meet on Wednesday and Friday. Assigned homework is due the next Spanish class day.Back to Top
