Homework should be approximately one hour per night. It will vary depending upon the individual. Homework will be written in the school issued agendas. It is the students' responsibility to do this. Usually there will be a math, reading and/or a social studies or science assignment. It is very important that the students write down their work as much as possible when solving math problems. Kids like to try to do work "in their head" as they think this saves them time. In reality, it doesn't really and there is a much higher chance of making a mistake. I also insist that students do this work on a separate sheet of paper (other than the worksheet) or copy the problem from the book and work it out allowing for spacing. Work will not be accepted if it doesn't follow these rules. Homework not due the next day will be posted with a reasonable due date. Some assignments may be more "long range" than others. Reading logs are due every Tuesday and need to have a parent's signature. Notes from parents are not accepted. There are also several optional assignments such as, math challenges, math word problem packets, daily geography, etc.....
