Criteria for Gifted Identification

Determining Eligibility for Gifted Education Services

Eligibility of students for gifted identification shall be based upon
successful fulfillment of ALL the criteria listed below:


1. A Portfolio of student work that demonstrates a high degree of intellectual
and/or creative abilities.

2. Specific examples of student exhibiting higher order thinking. 

Teacher recorded observations explaining how the student exhibits higher order
thinking.

3. Superior rating on scale of Gifted behaviors.

4. Students must perform in the top 5% in 2 or more areas of the CMT and in
the superior range on additional district assessments.

5. Teacher recommendation supporting identification of the child as gifted
and/or need for alternate academic programming.

6. Exemplary report cards for past 2 years.
