Listening Center

A new book on CD is put out each
week.  The children listen to the
new book and then choose another
book from a previous week to 
listen to.  This center is one of 
the favorites this year!

Poetry Center

We work on a new poem each week in
morning meeting.  During centers
the children reconstruct the poem
using sentence strips and a pocket
chart.  They illustrate a copy of
the poem to be kept in their 
poetry folders.

Big Book Center

The children practice reading 
familiar big books that have 
previously been introduced and 
read to the class.

Writing Center

At this center the children 
complete a new assignment each 
week. This is a "have to." After 
this activity is finished, the 
children can work on a choice. 
This includes making a book, 
writing a story, or writing 
letters on fun seasonal paper.
