Writing Center
This is our Writing Center. Here
children can write using a variety
of materials. Look at our word
wall. We discuss letters of the
alphabet first by adding our
names to the word wall. Then
as we learn new letters each
week, we add words. |

Block Center
In this area, children use blocks
to create, problem solve, and
cooperate. In 2003, my class
created this pyramid after
learning about mummies and
Egypt. This pyramid stayed up
all year! |

|
Kitchen Area
This is a favorite center for boys
and girls alike. In here, children
develop language skills as well
as learn how to cooperate and
problem solve. |

|
Art Center
Using a variety of art materials
encourages independence,
creativity, and fine motor skills in
Kindergarten. |

|
Projects
We love projects and do lots of
fun ones in Room 6! This is a project we did
in 2007 for the letter Mm. We made Martians
on Macaroni Planets. |

|
Quiet Reading
During this daily time, children
self- select books for reading.
Later on in the year, children
practice reading leveled books
with the teacher and with partners or
in small groups. |

|
BOOM!
Children learn skills best
through fun games and
activities. Boom! is a game that
we play to reinforce concepts
like numerals, letter sounds,
and sight words. |

|
Calendar
Every morning, we learn math concepts
through our calendar activities. Patterning,
numeral recognition, and counting are some
skills that we learn through the calendar. |
