| Students should be reading every day at home. Usually there is a short
assignment from their nonfiction book to be read aloud to a parent and
vocabulary to be studied. In addition students should do some extra reading
from a chapter book that is easy enough for them to read on their own
(independent level). Students may also record anytime that they study for a
classroom test or quiz, such as spelling test. Each student has a Reading Log
where they should record their extra reading - name of book and what chapters
or pages they have read that day. Parents must sign this Reading Log daily
for student to get credit.
