Calf Pen is fortunate to have a High School Mentor Program. All of our
mentors participate in extensive training by Bridges and school social
workers. Mentors are assigned a mentee by myself and volunteer an
hour a week at the end their school day. Mentors help students with
schoolwork, act as a "big brother or sister", teach game skills, and
encourage their mentees to do their best. Some of our mentor-mentee
matches are in their third year. We appreciate the time and energy
these young people bring to the students they see faithfully every week.

This school year I began our own Peer Buddy program. Students in
grade 4 & 5 were recommended by their teachers to be role models for
younger students. These Buddies meet with their younger buddy on
Friday afternoons in the Media Center under my supervision. They
received training and ongoing support as they make a difference every
week in the lives of their buddies,

Calf Pen has over 20 matches which involves the cooperation of our
teachers and staff. They have been so incredibly supportive of these
programs. A special thanks goes to Miss Petrus, who lets us invade the
Media Center whenever we need space!
