each process very carefully. When you become a member of a design team you
will need all of this information for the team to be successful. Be a
strong member and collect any information you believe necessary to be
successful.

PARK RIDE. EXAMPLES: NUTS/BOLTS, BUTTONS, STRING, TOOTHPICKS, AND
ANYTHING
ELSE YOU CAN THINK OF.
STEPS 2-4 WILL BE COMPLETED IN THE COMPUTER LAB YOU WILL HAVE 2
DAYS
Step 1 should be completed for homework and will be checked in 1 week.

5) IN CLASS STUDENTS WILL MEET TEAM MEMBERS AND DECIDE WHICH
ENGINEER WILL DO
THE FOLLOWING:
In your teams there are several things you will need to accomplish to
complete the task of designing a theme park. Everyone will be involved in
researching a ride, designing a ride, and presenting your ideas to the
group. Within your group elect people to the following jobs to stay
organized and accomplish your work in a timely manner.
Title a sheet of paper with the name of your engineering company. List each
employee and their position. Place this in your group folder.
You will receive a peer evaluation sheet at the close of the project. Each
student will evaluate each members participation and productivity.
Researcher - Explains information needed and assigns questions to each
student in the group.
Recorder - Keeps a list of who is given what jobs, in charge of materials
list for project, and maintains all research in a group folder.
Presenter - Will speak for the group and be able to answer all questions
about the project.
Artist - Will give input to what materials will be best for the design of
ride. Will draw various sketches for folder.
Organizer - Will ensure each group member understands what to do and helps
organize data needed for project.
(If you only have 3 members the Organizer and Recorder will become 1 job)
6) Get your assigned theme park ride from the teacher.
Brainstorm what you might need to design a ride. Write your ideas on a
sheet
of paper titled "Brainstorm Ideas".
Place in your group folder.
Complete group worksheet assignment, turn in at the end of class.

7) In computer lab each group will research the following links for
information needed to design a ride and prepare an advertising brochure.
Go back to the task page to review the requirements for the project.
Your recorder should begin keeping time for the group to stay on task.
Organize
Check your brainstorm list and prepare to record information, you could open
a word document to copy and paste important information and print notes for
the group folder after exploring each site. (Limit organizing to 5 minutes)
Research
Find information about the ride your group is designing using the sites
below. These sites will also include information to help you get
advertising
ideas and complete your brochure. You must print or write notes on
information you find on a sheet titled "Research". Place all information in

10) Class will decide on the amusement park theme and name.
11) Using information gathered your group must complete a model of a theme
park ride along with an advertising brochure.
The advertising brochure must have:
1 panel explaining where each of Newton's Laws of Motion can be found while
riding on your ride.
1 panel explaining theme park and ride safety.
1 panel with reviews of your ride.
1 panel with a drawing of your ride and the name of the theme park.
1 panel convincing people to come to your park and ride your ride
1 panel should name all the other rides found in your park.
Be creative, the brochure will be completed using colored pencils, however,
it should be ready to copy and distribute.

12) Create a prototype (3-D model) of your theme park ride.
Prototype must include:
Name that goes with the park theme
A Label on the ride where the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Laws of Motion are evident
(where they happen)
Finished product must be neat and attractive
Must include the company name and all employee names
