Program Choice Survey (Enter your school name if you wish to remain anonymous)

Since the early 80s, Clinton Public Schools has supported
opportunities for educational choice, first with the Integrated Day
Program and later with Looping. The Integrated Day Program
provided an innovative multi-aged instructional environemnt where
sutdents had the same teacher for two years. At one point, the
program boasted 15 teachers in K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. Currently, the
program is supported by five teachers in grades 2-3 and 4-5. In
the past few years, due to a combination of retirements and
teachers seeking other assignments, it has been difficult for the
district to find suitable candidates to maintain the program.
Looping is a program design that organizes a group of students in
the same grade with a teacher for multiple years. In Clinton,
looping is designed around a two-year model; students can start in
second grade and stay with the same teacher through third grade.
Looping is also available in a fourth-firth grade model. There are
currently nine teachers participating in the Looping model.

In a recent report to the Board of Education, it was suggested that
we explore the potential for in-house candidates that might, in
fact, have an interest in teaching in the Integrated Day Program.
The following questions are an attempt to discern if there is an
interest among staff regarding the Integrated Day Program and
identify reticence that might exist. The hope is that we might be
better able to make more informed decisions about the program.

Thank you in advance for taking time to respond to this important
data collection tool.
