Keyboarding

Abraham Pierson School and Jared Eliot Middle School have purchased the web version of Type to Learn 4, software for keyboarding instruction.  The licensing of the web version of this program allows the software to be downloaded in our students’ homes for no additional cost.  The progress your child makes, whether at school or at home, is recorded on the publisher’s server.  Parents may choose to download the software and have their children practice their keyboarding skills at home.

An introduction to Type to Learn 4 may be viewed at http://www.sunburst.com/ttl/f-intro.htm .

During the 2009 -- 2010 school year,  sixth grade students at Jared Eliot Middle School receive 30 class periods of keyboarding instruction and practice during one of the four quarters of the school year.  Students in grades seven and eight do not receive keyboarding instruction unless they do not take a world language in eighth grade.   Grade seven students, having received keyboard instruction last year, are expected to maintain their keyboarding skills through regular computer use at school and at home.

Mrs. Melissa Walden, Eliot's computer teacher, manages all the students' accounts.  If you have any questions about your child's account, check the frequently asked questions section below.  If your child's account still needs assistance, contact Melissa Walden at mwalden@clintonpublic.org .
