Food chain in the ocean
- phytoplankton are the primary producers
- zooplankton feed on phytoplankton
- krill (small shrimp) are zooplankton
- the largest animals on earth feed on krill
- krill are abundant in the oceans (fast reproducing)
- energy ultimately comes from the sun
- living things use energy for life functions such as: getting food, reproducing, escape from predator.
